Cyclone Arnab crossed India’s Andhra Pradesh coast on Oct. 28, damaging homes, farmland and electricity infrastructure. The Associated Press initially reported at least three deaths, citing state authorities. On Oct. 29, an Andhra Pradesh official told Reuters that the reported toll had risen to six; CNA carried the same official count.

The count remains provisional: The New Indian Express reported seven deaths while saying the state government had confirmed five at the time of its report. Odisha’s chief minister said rescue and relief operations were continuing and directed agencies to expedite restoration of electricity, drinking water and communications.
