The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas announced on October 20 that Dallas Independent School District agreed to a $1 million civil settlement. The agreement resolves federal allegations that the district falsely certified compliance with mandatory educator-misconduct reporting rules while receiving federal special-education funds.
The settlement requires multi-year compliance measures to strengthen reporting and coordination with law enforcement. Dallas ISD said it strongly disagrees with the government’s allegations and legal interpretation, while sharing the goal of protecting students. The agreement is a civil resolution; separate criminal allegations involving an educator are not proof of guilt.
