The Justice Department deployed election monitors to polling locations in Maricopa, Apache and Pima counties during Arizona's July 21 primary election. Personnel came from the Civil Rights Division's Voting Section and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona.

County election officials issued credentials allowing the federal staff to observe voting procedures. The department described the deployment as part of its regular enforcement of federal voting-rights laws and said the purpose was to support transparency, ballot access and communication with local officials.

The announcement did not allege that any county had violated federal law or identify a specific incident requiring intervention. Monitoring itself is therefore not evidence of election misconduct.

Arizona's published calendar identifies July 21 as primary day. County canvasses are due by August 3, with the official statewide canvass scheduled for August 6. Results reported before that process is complete remain unofficial.
