FEMA has denied Texas’s request for Individual Assistance for households affected by July 2026 flooding in Uvalde and Kerr counties, saying the impact did not meet its threshold for aid. The San Antonio Express-News reported that FEMA also rejected requests for some public-infrastructure assistance and hazard-mitigation funding; a separate disaster declaration had approved public assistance for 23 of 30 counties. Gov. Greg Abbott’s office said Texas officials are reviewing the determination and the appeal process. The denied household assistance is separate from aid associated with the deadly 2025 floods.
