Spain’s Castilla-La Mancha regional leader said the death toll from the Oct. 28 high-speed train collision in Urda had risen to 69 after another body was recovered overnight, the Associated Press reported on Oct. 29. Spain’s government declared three days of official mourning.
The collision involved two trains on the Madrid-Seville corridor. Authorities have not announced a final cause; the investigation is continuing. Early accounts about train movements and control decisions remain subject to that investigation.
